Landport Community Garden Sowing

The second place I planted flax seeds was at Landport Community Gardens, with help from Portsmouth Action Asylum and the Landport Community Garden Team. We planted the seeds in rows in a raised bed, covering the beds with a net to prevent birds and animals from eating the seeds.

Landport Community Garden is for local residents and is open to the public. The garden has lots of wildlife, including foxes and a cat called Sid. They also keep hens using the eggs they lay for the Landport Community Cafe. They also work with schools, charities and organisations who grow veg, flowers and tree nurseries.

Portsmouth Action Asylum supported in the sowing, maintaining and harvesting of flax. Being part of Portsmouth City of Sanctuary, Portsmouth Action Asylum connects asylum seekers with local communities, offering them voluntary work to improve their neighbourhood and the environment.
